Barry Murphy. In 1983 Barry played a key role when he assisted in raising finance for Fota, a project that many felt would never get off the ground. Once the Park was established he continued to play an active role, culminating in his Chairmanship of the Board.

During the start of the current phase of expansion he oversaw the development of the new entrance and retail area, education complex and animal exhibits. Throughout his involvement with Fota he always shared his leadership skills, good counsel, free time, humorous stories and wit.He exemplified the meaning of volunteerism. He was regarded fondly and will be greatly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
