Join the Animal Antics team near the red ruffed lemur from 11-5 daily for free arts and crafts. This week learn how to make your very own Windchime Jellyfish

On top of that there is the "Penguins Cant Fly" Puppet Show whiich takes place next to the arts and crafts at 11.30, 12.30 2.30 and 4.30 each day

Plus keep an eye out for Larry the Lemur the parks mascot and also we have storytelling sessions this week its about Vincent the Vain (A very interesting Gorilla)

 

“Penguins Cant Fly” Puppet Show

Have you seen any of our puppet shows this summer. the last one was about a giraffe who couldnt dance now we have one on our little black and white friends the penguins and it takes place in the park this week at 11.30, 12.30, 2.30 and 4.30

On top of this we have arts & crafts from 11 - 5pm where you can learn how to make a windchime jellyfish

We also have stroytelling with music, this weeks story is about a gorilla "Vincent the Vain"

Oh and dont forget Larry the Lemur the Parks Mascot will be around for pictures at different times of the day

Keep an eye out for Larry the Lemur the parks mascot during the day (He normally hangs around the peguin area but as with the other lemurs you never really know where he could appear)Also join the Animal Antics Team for plenty of Fun Each day.

Free Face Painting

9th August 2009

Join our Animal Antics Team on Sunday afternoon for Free Face Painting from 2 - 5pm

East Cork Early Music Festival Childrens Workshops

EAST CORK EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL CHIDREN'S WORKSHOPS

A unique addition to the Seventh East Cork Early Music Festival this year is the children's workshops in conjunction with the Fota Wildlife Park. These will take place on Saturday 19th September between 2pm and 4pm and will allow children of all ages and all levels of musical abilities to take part in singing, dancing, composing and playing of musical instruments and allowing children to discover the magic of Early Music in a relaxed and safe environment.

Each workshop will be devised of activities which last for approximately 10 minutes, allowing easy access. A complete session will last approximately 30 minutes.

African Drumming Workshop

26th September 2009

Children can learn how to play the African drums in the park with the Unity Drummers. Adults will also get the opportunity to join in this unique experience.

Peter Cox Photography Workshop

17th October 2009

Peter Cox is an award-winning nature photographer and educator living in Ballingeary, West Cork. He teaches regular courses on digital photography both at his studio in west cork and in Dublin, and lectures once a year on digital post-processing techniques in the United States. He is an Associate of the Irish Professional Photographer's Association, and was awarded their "Landscape Photographer of the Year" award in 2007.

Course details:
On the weekend of October 17th & 18th, Peter will be leading a digital photography workshop at Fota Wildlife Park. It will be geared towards beginner photographers who are eager to learn how best to use their cameras in this exciting location. Using the resident animals as subjects, participants will learn about composition, as well as how to control exposure to get the image right every time.
The workshop will comprise three photo sessions over the two days, broken up by sessions indoors where Peter will offer critiques on the day's work, as well as demonstrating how simple post-processing can bring out the full potential of every image.

Belfast born Martin is a jazz composer/songwriter is presently living in his adoped home of cork city where he has been assembling a comprehensive body of original work culminating in the 2006 release of "debut" his maiden release as a jazz composer which has garnered considerable critical acclaim and the release of '12' which showcases his songwriting abilities.

Martins musical history spans a career working with seminal cork oufits Soon and No Sangoma to working with acclaimed indie oufit Dear Wolf in germany with whom he recorded the acclaimed 'la spezia' Marins musical prowess is impressive to say the least. A Multi-Instrumentalist, Producer ,composer, teacher are just some of the strings to his bow!

This weekend you can catch him make his thrid appearance in the park in 2009 following Romance in the Park and the St Patrick's Day Celebration.

There will also be Face Painting for all the kids (and adults) and Special Talks on the Primates in the park on Monkey Island it's sure to be a wild weekend.

We have a week of activities lined up at the park to celebrate the spookiest time of the year. Each day we will have Arts & Crafts, Storytelling and Face Painting. We have a special "Trick or Treat" Parade on the 31st from 3-5pm where we are looking for kids to come to the park in their costumes for an afternoon of fun and games.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Cork County Bat Club will be spending the whole day at the education centre at Fota Wildlife Park with bat talks, competitions and other batty activities.
