About the Eucalyptus
Native to Australia, the mild climate of Fota Island has proved to be an ideal home for the Eucalyptus plant, which is found throughout the Park.
Its unique aroma, shedding bark, foliage and beautiful flowers mark this species out of the rest while its also accounts for some of the tallest trees in the world.
Globally, there are over 300 species of Eucalyptus and its uses include timber for furniture and woodwork within homes, its inner bark is used in the production of paper and card while Eucalyptus oil has therapeutic, flavouring and antimicrobial properties.
