Fota Wildlife Park presents cheque for over €11,500 to National Children’s Charity - BUMBLEance

Today Fota Wildlife Park director, Sean McKeown presented a cheque for €11,630 to David McCarthy, COO of BUMBLEance - the children’s ambulance charity. The monies were raised when the iconic County Cork visitor attraction re-opened its gates on the evening of the 7th July for the third annual Twilight Walk for BUMBLEance. Fota Wildlife Park was staffed by volunteers who gave their time freely on the night, allowing 100% of the proceeds from the Twilight Walk to be donated to the charity.

Speaking at the cheque presentation Sean McKeown, Director of Fota Wildlife Park said “We are very proud of the role that Fota Wildlife Park plays in conservation, education and research but also of our contribution to the community; and we are delighted to be able to give our support to this great service who provides vital assistance to critically and seriously ill children as they travel to hospital.  As a non profit organisation ourselves we recognise the challenges that charities face in their day to day operations and wish to sincerely thank all the volunteers who made this contribution of over €11,500 possible today - and of course the thousands of supporters who turned up for the Twilight Walk since we started running this fundraising event for this very well deserving charity - BUMBLEance”.

Tony Heffernan CEO The Saoirse Foundation BUMBLEance Children's National Ambulance Service said “At BUMBLEance we are so proud to have the ongoing support of Fota Wildlife Park and their fantastic team. Not only does the fundraiser allow our King and Queen Bees to enjoy Fota and their animals, it also boosts our income to allow us to continue to offer our free service for those sick and critically ill children who rely on BUMBLEance".
