New Fota Photography Competition Opens 1 June

12 photographs will be chosen for the 2020 pictorial Fota Wildlife Park calendar and the 12 images will be exhibited in the main (Landside) terminal in Cork Airport during the month of October 2019.

Photography Competition Categories and Rules 2019 – Opening date 1 June 2019 closing date 31 Aug 2019 – Winners announced September 2019

CATEGORIES:
• Best photograph by camera club photographer – winning prize is €300 + conservation annual pass. (proof of current camera club membership required)
• Best photograph by professional photographer – winning prize is €300 and a conservation annual pass.
• Best photograph by an international visitor (Proof of address may be requested) – winning prize is €300 + VIP Wild Experience private tour for the winner or a guest of their choice (valid for 12 months). (International is classed any anyone residing outside of the Republic of Ireland).
• Best photograph by non-club/non-professional photographer – winning prize is €300 + conservation annual pass
• Best photograph using a smart phone / tablet – winning prize is Conservation annual pass
• Best photograph by Under 16 – winning prize is Conservation annual pass for their family (Proof of age may be requested, please note that only people over the age of 18 can be an annual pass holder)
OPEN TO ALL VISITORS – to enter simply email your photograph (please put category in the subject line of the email) to [email protected] and state your name/address/phone number and category – and if under 16 or entering the international category then proof of DOB or address may be requested.
Photographs must taken in Fota Wildlife Park between the dates of 1/1/19 and 31/8/19 and can feature general views, plants, animals, birds or any inhabitant of the Wildlife Park. Please respect the privacy of others when taking any photographs and you must be the sole author and owner of any photos entered.
Fota Wildlife Park retains the right to free reproduction of any images submitted at any date. Drone usage is NOT permitted. Max entries – 5 photographs per entrant -entrants may only enter one category.
Camera Club photographers are entitled to admission for €10 per person on display of a club membership card – from 1st June until the 31st August. Membership must be current during the dates of the competition.

•The competition is open to club photographers and members of the public.
•You can enter photos of any scene at Fota Wildlife Park as long as you have taken the photo between 01/01/19 January and 31/8/1
•Subjects can include animals, plants or general views.
•Fota Wildlife Park retains the right to free reproduction and exhibition of all entries. By submitting a photograph, you grant permission for us to publish the photograph or any part of it for an indefinite period in any media chosen and on web and social media communications. No commercial payment will be made by Fota Wildlife Park for the use of your photographs.
•You are not allowed to enter any more than one category
•You can enter a maximum of 5 photos per category.
•Entering by Post: We will do all we can to take reasonable care of the entries you send in but we cannot accept responsibility if we do not receive them (whether or not you have proof of posting), or for any loss or damage. Photographs unfortunately cannot be returned to you.
•Entrants must be the sole author and owner of copyright for all photos entered.
•If submitting an entry with an individual pictured, photographers must seek permission from anyone recognisable (or the parent or guardian of minors pictured).
•Entrants’ images may be digitally edited to increase quality of the photograph, but we encourage realistic photographs.
•The competition is not open to employees or contractors of Fota Wildlife Park
•By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to these terms and conditions.
•Proof of age, address and/or ID may be asked to be validate certain categories
•Any external press reserves the right to choose which images they decide to use to promote the competition. Fota Wildlife Park has no control or liability over any decision such press may make to use (or not use) images.
•Fota Wildlife Park reserves the right to decide which images are used for marketing or promotional resources.
•Entrants must not compromise the welfare of any animals and should never do anything to injure or distress any animals or destroy their habitat in an attempt to secure an image.
•All entrants agree, by entering, that if they are successful and win or are runner up their category, they will take part in related publicity and to the use of their name for the purpose of advertising, promotion and publicity of the competition without additional compensation.
•Proof of electronic submission is not proof of receipt by Fota Wildlife Park.
DATA PROTECTION
In accordance with GDPR regulations it is necessary for us to request your name and contact details and proof of ID may be requested – this is only for competition entry only and your details will not be passed to any other party for marketing purposes, however it may be necessary to make contact with you during the adjudication process and your name/address/category will be published if you are successful as a winner or runner up.
