Fantastic programme of family friendly events for the summer

Fota Wildlife Park announces a fantastic programme of family friendly events for the summer!

Fota Wildlife Park which this year celebrates 40 years of conservation, research, and breeding of endangered animals, has this week kicked off a special programme of family friendly summer events which will run until August.

Running across six weeks since July 10th until August 20th, a series of fun, interactive, engaging live events, educational weekends and science shows will take place, all which are free with entry price or admission to Fota Wildlife Park. Some events do require pre-booking and these events can be booked on www.fotawildlife.ie

Scientist and TV Presenter, Mark the Science Guy, from RTE’s award winning science series “Let’s Find Out” is bringing his live show which is suitable for all ages to Fota Wildlife Park each week from July 11th to August 17th .

Discover things we can all do to make a positive change in this highly engaging, superbly entertaining, and wholeheartedly uplifting family show and let Mark take you on a scientific adventure exploring our beautiful planet. Plenty of planet earth superhero’s will be needed to join Mark on stage with his interactive demonstrations which are taking place midweek on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (except Thursday 20th July).

A Theoretical Physicist by background, Mark is an educator, researcher, TV presenter, broadcaster, and an award-winning educational content creator and producer of live educational stage shows and engaging STEM experiences and exhibitions. Pre-booking is required for Mark’s The Science Guy’s Live shows on www.fotawildlife.ie.

Graffiti Theatre Company presents, Rowan and the Seasons, a brand-new creative, enchanting, and engaging, learning workshop with puppets suitable for 3yrs – 9yrs.

Join Puppeteer Jo Dennehy and Graffiti Creative Learning facilitators for an interactive puppetry encounter as they walk through the seasons. It is an intimate show and is suitable for those with sensory issues. Rowan and the Seasons will take place every Monday from 10th July to 14th August inclusive and pre- booking is required at   www.fotawildlife.ie

Family friendly yoga classes presented by Hot Yoga Cork will run every Friday July 14th to August 18th  in the Marquee at Fota. Flow Yoga which is suitable for 10 years and over will take place at 1pm and Family Yoga which is suitable for all age groups will take place at 2pm. Pre- booking is essential at www.fotawildlife.ie

Throughout July and August, educational themed weekends will take place at Fota Wildlife Park to celebrate 40 years of Fota.

July 15th & 16th – Mad Scientist Weekend, 12 noon to 5pm, venue Marquee.

Calling all young budding scientists, Fota Wildlife Park is welcoming back its popular Mad Scientist Weekend this year. Featuring exhibits from the Tyndall National Institute, IPIC and the Lifetime Lab @ Old Cork Waterworks.

July 29th & 30th – Native Species Weekend, 12 noon to 5pm, venue Marquee.

Native Species Weekend, is a must for any tiny tots interested in learning more about Ireland’s own amazing creatures. Visitors to the park can learn about the variety of native flora and fauna that exists in Ireland and how everyone can play a role in helping to conserve our natural heritage!

The Bug Bonanza Weekend will take place on August 19th and 20th

Learn it Lego workshops are back on the 4th and 5th of August. On August 16th Peter Dowdall will give a talk and workshop on natural connections in Fota Wildlife Park and will discuss how some animals need plants and equally how some plants need animals for their survival.
