Please bear with us while construction is underway for a new Education, Research and Conservation Centre ‘Understanding our Future Sustainability’.
Visitors to Fota Wildlife Park please note that construction is underway for the new Education complex, thanks to Government funding from the Office of Public Works.
The new Education, Research and Conservation Centre will replace the current Education complex which was originally designed as the administration, admissions, and retail centre at Fota Wildlife Park when it first opened in 1983. The Education centre received significant updates over the years, and formal student numbers attending rose to over 19,000, giving rise to the need for the current development.
Sustainability will be at the forefront of the design, including passive design and use of recycled materials, solar panels, rainwater harvesting and external and internal living walls. The new centre will also feature a dedicated conservation and research centre, provide learning at every opportunity to encourage a greater level of public engagement in areas such as biodiversity and native species conservation.
This project will be completed in late 2023. Fota Wildlife Park will mark its 40th anniversary on the 23rd June 2023.
