Fota Wildlife Park Irish Native Biodiversity Poster Competition for Primary Schools
COMPETITION CRITERIA
THEME: Irish Native Biodiversity at Fota Wildlife Park.
Create an educational and visually engaging poster that showcases one of the native Irish species found at Fota Wildlife Park.
Your poster should highlight key information about the chosen species, helping to raise awareness and appreciation for Ireland’s native wildlife.
Fota Wildlife Park is home to several native species, including:
· Natterjack toad
· Curlew
· Corncrake
· White-clawed crayfish
· Irish black bee
· Grey partridge
· Red squirrel
· Irish stoat
· Barn owl
· Bat
Eligibility
§ Open to primary school students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th class.
§ Artwork must be the original creation of the student.
§ All entries must be received by Wednesday, 11th June 2025.
§ Poster must feature one of the above species.
Submission
§ Entries must be sent in via post by Wednesday, 11th June 2025.
§ Drawings/paintings or posters can be A4 or A3 and can use pencil, crayon, colouring pencil, markers, or paints.
§ Your entry must be posted by your class teacher.

§ Please place ‘Native Biodiversity Art Competition’ in the subject on the cover of your envelope and post to:
Fota Wildlife Park, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, T45 CD93.
§ Please include the following information in your application on the back of your poster:
1. Name of Entrant
2. Class (i.e. 2nd class, 5th class etc.)
3. School Name
4. School Address
5. Phone Number
6. Lead Teacher Name
7. Lead Teacher Email Address
Judging:
§ Artwork will be judged on creativity, relevance to theme, and artistic merit.
§ Judging will be conducted by a panel of Fota Wildlife Park staff.
§ The judges' decision is final.
Prizes:
A winner and second place prize will be selected from the entry
1st Prize:
· The winning artist with receive a family day pass to Fota Wildlife Park and a goody bag.
· The artwork of the winning student will be celebrated on Fota Wildlife Park social and digital media channels.
· A free class trip for 30 students and 4 teachers to be booked between September 2025 and April 2026.
2nd Prize
· The second-place artist with receive a family day pass to Fota Wildlife Park and a goody bag.
· Artwork of runner up student will be celebrated on Fota Wildlife Park social and digital media channels

By entering, participants grant permission for their artwork to be displayed on the Fota Wildlife Park website and social media channels.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
1. You must submit your entry following the competition criteria outlined above.
2. The entry shall be the entrant’s own work. By entering the competition each entrant warrants that their entry shall not have been previously published or exploited in any part and will not infringe any copyright, right of privacy, right of publicity or personality or any other right whatsoever of any third party.
3. Applications from agents, third parties, organised groups, or applications automatically generated by computers will not be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with all entry instructions.
4. The competition will run until Wednesday 11th June 2025. All entries must be in by 5pm on that date. All dates are subject to change.
5. Responsibility is not accepted for entries lost or delayed. You will not receive correspondence to confirm your application has been received.
6. The winners will be selected by a panel consisting of Fota Wildlife Park staff.
7. The winner will be notified by email to the Lead teacher. The winner must acknowledge their prize within 5 days of the notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse, and Fota Wildlife Park reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with the competition rules.
8. The winner may be required to participate in publicity arising from this promotion.
9. Imagery or video of the winning entry may be used in promotion or online and by entering into the competition you agree to the consent of use of video and/or imagery by Fota Wildlife Park.
10. By entering the competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the Data Controller for the purposes of the administration of this competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented. All entry instructions form part of the rules.
11. It is a condition of entry that Fota Wildlife Park shall have a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to reproduce/publish images of the posters for publicity, educational, reference and for broadcast, print, social media and digital media at any time of their choosing.
