European bison

The European bison, also known as the wisent, is the largest mammal native to Europe. Mature bulls can grow over 180 cm tall and weigh up to 90 kg. Despite their size, they are surprisingly agile, capable of leaping over a three-metre-wide stream from a standing position. Females are smaller than males, and both genders have short horns. Their dense coats range in colour from dark brown to golden, and they have a thick neck topped by a shoulder hump.
