Great white pelican

The great white pelican is one of the largest flying bird species in the world. Typically weighing around 10 kg and with a wingspan approaching three metres, these birds are graceful and efficient flyers but appear clumsy on land. Males are generally larger than females. Both sexes possess long, distinctive bills that are slightly hooked at the tip. Their plumage is mostly white, with a pinkish facial patch around their eyes and pale pink legs.
