Recognised for its distinctive scimitar-shaped horns, which can reach up to one metre in length, the scimitar-horned oryx is a large desert antelope that stands up to 125 cm tall and can weigh up to 220 kg. Its white coat reflects sunlight, helping to regulate its body temperature in the harsh desert environment, while a dark stripe running through its eyes is believed to protect its vision from the sun’s glare.
